All through college I heard that slogan but if you stop and think about it, it’s a horrible way to live. It’s being complacent and being OK with being average. Fallen human nature tends toward complacency, but YOU and I can do better! If we are honest with ourselves complacency is slothfulness, one of the 7 deadly sins. And it is truly deadly. Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav said, “If you won’t be better tomorrow than you were today, then what do you need today for?” Read that again! “If you won’t be better tomorrow than you were today, then what do you need today for?” Wow, seriously how can we argue that being complacent isn’t deadly?!? We are working our way up this slippery slope of life and each of these deadly sins will stop us and pull us down. I challenge you to stop being complacent! Stop letting yourself thing that average is good. Start pushing yourself further, do one thing today to make yourself better (pray for 15 minutes, read for 15 minutes, do a 10 minute ab workout, go on a walk, eat an extra vegetable). You got this!
