Disciplining your mind is hard work, but it's worth it!
Our brains are wired to take the path of least resistance. That's why it's so easy to talk ourselves out of doing things that are good for us, like working out, eating healthy, or studying for a test. But if we want to reach our goals, we need to learn to discipline our minds.
Here are a few tips for disciplining your mind:
Identify your triggers. What are the things that make you want to give up? Once you know your triggers, you can start to develop strategies for overcoming them.
Set small goals. Don't try to change everything at once. Start by setting small goals that you know you can achieve. This will help you build momentum and make it more likely that you'll stick with your plan.
Reward yourself. When you reach a goal, reward yourself with something you enjoy. This will help you stay motivated and make it more likely that you'll keep going.
Here are 3 Bible verses that can help you discipline your mind:
Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."
Proverbs 23:7 "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he."
Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
When you feel resistance, don't give in! Recognize that your brain is fighting to do the quick and easy thing in this moment. It's working to keep you safe and save your energy. But we want to discipline our minds and challenge them. So when you feel the resistance, say "NOPE! We are doing the workout!" 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 GO DO IT!
