Eczema, Exhaustion & Elimination Diets: Why I’m Finally Finding Hope Through Liver Support + Non-Toxic Living

Updated: 2 days ago

If you had told me last year that sweating and ditching my face wash would help my eczema more than any steroid cream—I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

But here we are.

As a chemical engineer turned SAHM with postpartum eczema, I’ve been on a long, frustrating, emotional journey. And the more I dig, the more I’m convinced: eczema isn’t just a skin issue. At least, not for me.

It’s a liver issue. A gut issue. A stress + nervous system issue. And maybe most of all? A stewardship issue.

🦢 From Creams to Root Cause

Like many moms, I tried the usual solutions—topical creams, switching to gluten-free snacks, cutting sugar for a week (kind of). I spent $200+ on bloodwork that told me nothing helpful. The flare-ups kept coming, and my hope kept slipping.

But once I started learning about how toxins overload the liver—and how the liver is directly connected to the skin—I realized I needed a new plan.

♻️ My Shift: Supporting Detox, Not Just Suppressing Symptoms

I stopped looking for a cream to fix it. Instead, I started sweating every day. I cut gluten, dairy, sugar, soy, and eggs—for now. I switched my skincare and cleaners to truly non-toxic products. I started talking to God when I felt discouraged, not just reaching for comfort food.

And finally… my skin started changing.

💥 What I’m Learning

  • Your liver detoxes toxins… unless it’s too bogged down to keep up.

  • If your liver is struggling, your skin will show it.

  • Sweat is a detox pathway! (No wonder my flare-ups come after workouts—my body’s pushing stuff OUT!)

  • Candida, viruses like Epstein-Barr, and heavy metals could all be contributing… and they’re not solved by topical products.

  • Non-toxic swaps aren’t just “crunchy” or trendy—they’re necessary for true healing.

  • And yes, your thoughts and emotions can be part of the inflammation too.

🙏 What Keeps Me Going

Hope. Hope that healing is possible. Hope that this isn’t forever. Hope that God is using this journey to sanctify and strengthen me in motherhood.

💬 Ready to Start Healing Too?

I put together 5 Detox Tips that helped me the most when I started. They're simple. They're doable. And they just might be the shift you’ve been praying for too.

PS:

If you're overwhelmed, frustrated, or ready to give up—I see you. I’ve been there. Let’s walk this journey together.
