How I Discovered Mold Was Wrecking My Health

The Shocking Culprit Behind My Eczema Flare Ups

ree

If you’ve ever tried everything to heal your skin—and still kept flaring—you might want to hear this. Because after months of candida protocols, gut support, liver drainage, and all the things… 👉 I found out the root of my eczema wasn’t just internal. It was lurking in my house.

The Backstory: A Candida Diagnosis That Made Sense... at First

I’ve been on a mission to heal from chronic eczema for the past 8 months. After having 3 babies in under 3 years, losing my network marketing business, and grieving the loss of my grandma—my favorite person to visit and feel seen by—my body broke out in what felt like one giant cry for help.

Dry, red, itchy patches wrapped around my mouth, eyes, and neck. I was tired all the time. Moody. Brain fogged. And I felt like a stranger in my own skin.

After working with a holistic practitioner, I found out I had a candida overgrowth—a fungal imbalance in the gut that’s common postpartum and often triggered by stress, sugar, and antibiotics.

It explained a lot. But it wasn’t the whole story.

The Breakthrough: My Skin Cleared Up… When I Left the House

Fast forward to a family trip out of town for 5 days. I brought my supplements and stuck to my clean eating, but I also added two things:

  • Swabbing the inside of my nose with grapefruit seed extract

  • Drinking water infused with grapefruit seed extract twice a day

To my shock, my skin started clearing up FAST. No redness. No itching. No new flares. I actually felt like myself again.

At first, I thought: “Wow, maybe the grapefruit seed extract is the missing link!” But when I came back home… 💥 The flare returned. Same spots. Same patterns. And that’s when I got the email from our home air quality test: MOLD.

Candida and Mold: Partners in Crime

Here’s what I’ve since learned: Candida thrives in moldy environments. So while I had been working hard to fight candida internally, I was still breathing in more of what it loves every single day. It was like bailing water from a boat with a hole in the bottom.

Mold exposure can:

  • Compromise your immune system

  • Create chronic inflammation

  • Bog down your liver

  • Fuel candida, eczema, fatigue, brain fog, and hormonal chaos

So even though I was doing “all the right things,” I was still surrounded by the root of my problem.

What I’m Doing Now:

✅ Scheduling professional remediation ASAP

✅ Swabbing my nose 1–2x a day with grapefruit seed extract

✅ Taking binders (like activated charcoal + bentonite clay) to flush my system

✅ Keeping up with candida diet + low sugar

✅ Using only non-toxic products for cleaning and self-care (no fragrances or mold-feeding preservatives)

The Takeaway?

Sometimes healing isn’t just about what we eat or take. Sometimes it’s about what we’re breathing in every single day. If you’re struggling with chronic skin issues, eczema, fatigue, or candida that won’t budge—even with diet and supplements—check your environment.

It might not be “just you.” It might be mold.

You’re not broken.

You’re just ready to heal.

And this might be the missing piece you’ve been praying for 💛
