The Hidden Dangers in Your "Green" Cleaners (And What to Use Instead!)

Did You Know?

Every time you spray a cleaner, wipe down a surface, or wash your dishes, you’re not just removing dirt—you’re also leaving behind chemical residues that can transfer to your skin and be absorbed into your body. Many cleaning products that claim to be "eco-friendly" or "green" are actually filled with hidden toxins that can harm your health. Just because a product is labeled "natural" or "plant-based" doesn’t mean it’s safe!

How These Chemicals Affect Your Health

Think about how often your hands touch cleaned surfaces—your countertops, tables, floors, even your bed sheets and clothes. If these surfaces have been cleaned with toxic chemicals, those residues can transfer onto your skin and enter your bloodstream. Even worse, when you inhale the strong fumes from conventional cleaners, those chemicals bypass your liver’s natural detoxification process and go straight into your bloodstream through your lungs. This can contribute to headaches, respiratory issues, hormone disruption, and long-term health concerns.

The Problem With Greenwashing

Greenwashing is when companies market their products as "clean" or "non-toxic" while still including harmful ingredients. One of the biggest concerns? Ethoxylated ingredients—these chemicals often contain 1,4-dioxane, a known carcinogen and endocrine disruptor. The worst part? Companies don’t have to list 1,4-dioxane on the label!

Common Hidden Toxins to Avoid:

🚫 Fragrance – A mix of undisclosed chemicals, often including phthalates, which disrupt hormones.

🚫 PEGs & Ethoxylated Ingredients – Potentially contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.

🚫 Triclosan – Found in antibacterial products and linked to hormone disruption.

🚫 Quats (Quaternary Ammonium Compounds) – Used in disinfectants and associated with fertility issues.

🚫 Ammonia & Chlorine Bleach – Cause respiratory irritation and disrupt thyroid function.

What to Use Instead:

✅ Look for fragrance-free or products scented only with pure essential oils.

✅ Choose Pure Haven’s cleaner bundles—completely non-toxic and effective.

✅ Use Force of Nature as a powerful yet safe disinfectant (bonus: it replaces dozens of toxic cleaners!).

✅ DIY your own simple cleaners using vinegar, baking soda, and essential oils for an easy and safe swap.

By making small swaps, you can protect your home and family from harmful chemicals!
